“You are the salt of the earth… the light of the world… ”
of the current Shinbanpo Church. It was difficult to start a church because the Korean War had just ended.
Nonetheless, the founders of the church had the vision and determination to start this church in 1954 in Kal Wol-dong, Seoul.
Church members devoted four years of prayer for the construction of the former church building
in Banpo 2 dong. It was completed in 1978.
Pastor Kwang Soo Lee, serving since 1959, helped to grow the church in its new location.
The church’s name was changed to Shinbanpo Church to represent its community focus.
The current pastor, Reverend Mun Su Hong started his service in 1992.
His focus continues to be overseas missionary work with the goal of becoming
the “modern day Antioch church”.

We have God’s mission to renew the world: preaching the Gospel throughout the world,
and bringing more people to Christ.
Our ultimate goal of Mission is “Missionary Church Planting”.
Shinbanpo Church will help and challenge other churches to be missionary churches.
We are thankful that God has chosen to use and bless our mission.
